Terms of Service

Last updated: 10 September 2026

Welcome to Ahlu Sunnah. By downloading, accessing, or using the Ahlu Sunnah mobile application and website (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. Use of the App

You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to misuse the App, including but not limited to: attempting to gain unauthorized access to systems or data, interfering with the proper functioning of the App, using the App for any unlawful purpose, or reverse-engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any part of the App.

2. Intellectual Property

The App's software, design, features, and original content — including the Tajweed guide, educational articles, dua compilations, and user interface — are owned by Ahlu Sunnah and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

Quranic text and translations: The Quranic Arabic text is in the public domain. Translations and tafsir are sourced from publicly available APIs and are subject to the licensing terms of their respective publishers. We display these for educational purposes only and do not claim ownership over third-party translations.

Hadith collections: Hadith text is sourced from publicly available academic databases. The grading and commentary belong to their respective scholars and publishers.

Lectures and recordings: Embedded lectures and videos remain the property of their original creators. We embed content via official platforms (e.g. YouTube) and do not host or redistribute the original media files. All trademarks and brand names are the property of their respective owners.

3. User-Generated Content

If you submit content to the App (such as bug reports, feedback, or support requests), you grant Ahlu Sunnah a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that content for the purpose of operating and improving the App. You are solely responsible for the content you submit and warrant that it does not infringe the rights of any third party.

4. Copyright Infringement

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same. If you believe that any content available through the App infringes your copyright, please submit a notice under our DMCA Policy. We will respond to valid takedown requests promptly and may terminate access for repeat infringers.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Premium subscriptions are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) until cancelled. A 7-day free trial may be offered; after the trial ends, your selected payment method will be charged automatically. You may cancel at any time through your Stripe billing portal or by contacting us. Refunds are handled at our discretion in accordance with applicable consumer law. Donations to the MATW Project are processed as one-time payments and are non-refundable unless required by law.

6. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Islamic rulings (fatwas) should not be derived solely from this App; please consult a qualified scholar for religious guidance. Prayer times and Qibla direction are calculated algorithmically and may vary slightly from local mosque schedules. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ahlu Sunnah and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the App. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

8. Third-Party Links and Content

The App may contain links to third-party websites and embeds third-party content (such as lectures and videos). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site and do not endorse them. Your use of third-party content is at your own risk.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and without notice. Upon termination, all licenses granted to you under these Terms will immediately cease.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us through the App's Contact page.
